Grain Reclaimed

Recycled timber creations by Darren Hougham

Hi, I’m Darren. I worked in the Festival, Events and Live Music industry for 15 years until COVID struck and the bottom fell out of my career. My time working in this environment honed my skills of resourcefulness and with support and encouragement from my lovely wife, I decided to try and make a career out of a long term hobby of creating furniture from found timber and Grain Reclaimed was conceived.

Grain Reclaimed is an antidote to a throw away culture. I rescue timbers destined for landfill and lovingly rework them into thoughtfully designed pieces to last another lifetime. Recent commissions include book cases, shelves, coffee tables, worktops, a high sleeper bed and a number of cast iron garden bench refurbishments as well as stock items such as bird tables, bird boxes and feeders.

I feel very privileged to have a workshop space at the Stamner Craft Museum in the beautiful Stamner Park. It's a vibrant, colourful and inspiring place to work surrounded by other crafts people all supporting each other. My workshop is open to the public so come visit and have a look.
